DEF discusses innovations in Financial Inclusion on an international level.

From its position as a key partner in Jordan’s efforts to reach effective financial inclusion, the Development and Employment Fund, represented by its General Manager Mr. Abdullah Freij, took the opportunity of the 18thMicrocredit Summit: “Frontiers Innovations in Financial Inclusion” as a chance to exchange with peers from the region and beyond, and follow up on latest trends, create synergies and links between the different actors in the development and financial inclusion ecosystems.

“The summit highlighted unique success stories from across the globe in the field of microcredit and financial inclusion. The knowledge exchange pillar was incomparable and opened new horizons for us. The presentations and discussions provided us with creative ideas on how to expand DEF’s services and outreach channels, and ways to improve our social performance effectiveness. We realize now the necessity to focus more on marketing DEF’s own success stories on a local and international levels”, said HE Abdullah Freij.

The event also provided a platform for DEF to communicate with and approach potential investors that are interested in the microfinance sector in Jordan like Khalife Fund, and The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to name but few.

The event was organized by the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) in Abu Dhabi during the period 14-17 March 2016, under the auspices of HRH Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Her Majesty Queen Sofia, and Prof. Mohammad Yunus.
